Prusevicz–Sister
Rosalita Prusevicz, OP (the former Frances Prusevicz) of Grand Rapids,
Michigan (born in Hooversville, Pennsylvania) died December 19, 2009. She was 98 years
old and a Dominican Sister for 82 years.
Sister Rosalita graduated from AquinasCollege
with a BA in education and a Master’s degree in theology in 1956.Forty-five years of Sister Rosalita’s life
were devoted to the teaching profession. She taught in the following Michigan
schools: Saint Mary, Muskegon; Saint Francis, Traverse City; Saint Stephen,
Saint John’s Home, Saint Joseph, and Saint Alphonsus, Grand Rapids; Lake
Leelanau; Gaylord; St. Anne, Alpena; Holy Rosary Academy, Bay City; and Holy
Trinity, Alpine.She spent three years
in Marinette, Wisconsin
and one year at Penasco, New Mexico.
Sister Rosalita is survived
by her sisters, Alice, Mrs. John Rock; and Nellie, Mrs. Thomas Gelwich of Grand
Rapids; nieces, nephews, friends and sisters in her Dominican community.
Sister Rosalita will repose at Chapel of the Word, MarywoodHealthCenter, 111 Lakeside Dr. NE in Grand Rapids with visitation there on Monday,
December 21, 2009 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Remembering Service will be on
Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Dominican Chapel/Marywood, 2025 East Fulton Street. A Mass of
Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at
Dominican Chapel/Marywood.Burial will
be at ResurrectionCemetery.Memorials in Sister Rosalita Prusevicz’s name
may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
